The W4CN ARTS repeater is a Yaesu System Fusion Model DR-1X located at Norton Audubon Hospital.
The main hospital site is equipped with emergency backup generators which activate automatically during a power outage.
The W4CN ARTS repeater system is coordinated through the South-Eastern Repeater Association (SERA).
The Site:
The repeater site is located at an elevation of 504 ft above sea level (not including the building or tower) and can be seen from Poplar Level Road at Norton Audubon Hospital. The antenna is mounted about 40 feet above the rooftop. It is a G7-144 vertical. Our repeater antenna is visible in the photo below (the highest elevation antenna on the rooftop). The radio room is directly below the antenna.

The W4CN ARTS Echolink system is currently located at the home of, and maintained by Ted Sims AI4LV. The equipment consists of an Alinco DR-1200T 2 meter data radio, a WB2REM Ultimate Linking Interface and a home computer running Echolink and EchoProducer (for the voice announcements). The radio is connected to an Opek UVS-300 VHF/UHF vertical antenna on a roof tripod at about 20 feet.

Entering Node Numbers
To enter a node number (for the Connect or Query by Node commands), enter the 4-, 5-, or 6-digit node number. If the specified node is not among the stations currently logged on, EchoLink will say "NOT FOUND".
Entering Callsigns
To enter a callsign (for the Connect by Call or Query by Call commands), press two digits for each letter and number in the callsign. The first digit is the key on which the letter appears (using 1 for Q and Z), and the second digit is 1, 2, or 3, to indicate which letter is being entered. To enter a digit, press the digit followed by 0. When finished, end with the pound key (#).
For example, the letter "K" is entered as "52", the letter "Q" is entered as "11", and the digit "7" is entered as "70".
Callsigns need not be entered in full. If a partial callsign is entered, EchoLink will find the first match among the stations currently logged on. If no match is found among the stations currently logged on, EchoLink will say "NOT FOUND".
Linked Repeater Network - C4FM Fusion & WIRES-X
C4FM Fusion & WIRES-X - Linked Repeater System
Do you have a Yaesu radio that supports C4FM Digital Mode communication? Do you have a digital radio and HAM Hotspot that supports Yaesu System Fusion (YSF) communications?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, or have access to Echolink, you’re in luck! You should know that there is a local network of Yaesu System Fusion repeaters supported by local hams that are linked together through WIRES-X in C4FM digital mode. Our ARTS Club repeater at 147.180 Mhz is part of this network. Note to repeater owners: If you operate a WIRES-X linked repeater, you are welcome to add your repeater to the network by using CQ-Louisville (#21014) as your "home" room. Please let us know via email so we can add your repeater to the list below: Contact Us.
Note that these repeaters operate as standalone repeaters when using FM analog but they are linked together when using C4FM digital communication. That means if you transmit through one of these repeaters or into the CQ-Louisville WIRES-X Room in digital mode, your transmission is repeated on all of the repeaters connected to the room at that time. Therefore, you are able to communicate with any other digital mode station using any of these repeaters, or any other station in the WIRES-X Room named “CQ-Louisville” (WIRES-X Room 21014). Some of these repeaters may be navigated for short periods of time to other WIRES-X rooms (you are welcome to do that). Note that after 15 to 30 minutes however, the repeater will return automatically to the home room (CQ-Louisville #21014).
WIRES (Wide-coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement System) is an Internet communication system which expands the range of amateur radio communication. Furthermore, your Yaesu digital C4FM station can communicate with other amateur stations all over the world using these repeaters. Here is a list of the repeaters that use CQ-Louisville (21014) as their home WIRES-X Room. These repeaters pass only digital C4FM traffic into the room they are connected to. So they are effectively linked together with C4FM digital communications, but function as stand-alone repeaters when using FM analog communications. Note; as you travel around the area you may find an area where a repeater drops out due to terrain or other RF obstacles. If you are using C4FM digital mode, simply switch to one of the other repeaters that covers that area and you are still in the network (as long as the repeater you switch to has not been temporarily pointed to a different WIRES-X Room.)

Note there is no digital squelch code, PL Tone, or DG ID required to use these repeaters in digital mode.
